Vanderburgh County Property Taxes

Just a quick thank you to our elected officials for screwing the residents of Evansville over in regards to this years property taxes.  Since myself, or anyone else in Evansville got a Homestead exemption, I had to cut a check to the bank for the difference in my Escrow.  Now, it's not a huge amount, but it's enough to royally piss me off. Vanderburgh County is the only county within Indiana that did not get the Home Stead Exemption option on their taxes.  Our mayor is claiming over sight, but I'm saying it was a corrupt move to pad the pockets of the city.  An additional $5 million is now being...

Klemeyer Park Car Vandalism

Just received an anonymous email from someone claiming that someone loosened the lug nuts on the rims of their vehicles.  I have no specific validation, only the single email found below: Kleymeyer Park softball parking lot on Friday, 6-26-09 around 10pm. Our softball game was over and we were all heading home with a victory and a smile. My smile was replaced by a frozen stare when my truck began to vibrate more and more as I drove south on First Ave.  First thought it was a flat tire, but upon inspection the tires and vehicle seemed fine.  The vibration continued and gradually got worse as I drove...

Missing Michael Savage

I'm not sure why 1280 AM in Evansville decided to cancel Michael Savage and bring on a poor man's Rush Limbaugh, but they did.  I completely understand that Savage is an extremist, but I need him to help balance out what I'm being exposed to every day anyways, the extreme left.  Since he's been removed from the line up and he's been replaced with Glen Beck, what am I supposed to get angry about on the way home in the evenings? I dropped an email to 1280 the week Savage was taken off air, but never received a response.  Maybe I was the only one that appreciated the rantings, the anger, the in your...

Showplace Cinemas Evansville

Christ their prices are getting out of hand.  Just last night my wife and I decided to check out Disney's UP and it ended up costing us close to $30 when all was said and done.  Consider that the normal charge for a movie is $9 and it's an additional $2.50 per ticket to see a 3D film like UP.  Now set back $23.00 I slowly make my way to the snack bar where I have to pony up $5.00 for a small coke and small popcorn. So, $28 later I'm setting in a cozy theater, decent picture, 3d images, great sound, but drinking water downed coke and stale popcorn.  Is it worth it?  Money spent does not equal...

Horrible, Horrible Comments on CourierPress.com

Has anyone else noticed how cruel and unusual most of the comments are over at CourierPress.com?  I mean, it's like the worst of Evansville comes out to leave obscure comments on horrible stories, that no doubt family members are reading.  Some of which I'm surprised pass a language filter, but others are just there to be rude. The Evansville Courier should be taking steps to prevent 50% of those comments from even being published.  While automated scripts will catch the curse words, it looks like there needs to be a full time moderator of the site.  Someone to hang around and just keep the site...
