Just received an anonymous email from someone claiming that someone loosened the lug nuts on the rims of their vehicles. I have no specific validation, only the single email found below:
Kleymeyer Park softball parking lot on Friday, 6-26-09 around 10pm.
Our softball game was over and we were all heading home with a victory and a smile. My smile was replaced by a frozen stare when my truck began to vibrate more and more as I drove south on First Ave. First thought it was a flat tire, but upon inspection the tires and vehicle seemed fine. The vibration continued and gradually got worse as I drove home. Lug nuts! Check the lug nuts. Sure enough, the lug nuts on all four tires had been loosened. The lugs on the drivers side were loose enough to remove by hand. I immediately called several other players from the softball team and found that a few others had the same experience.
Why would anyone do this? Did a couple of kids loosen the lugs and go across the street and wait for the laughs to literally start to roll?
It's one thing to tollerate people opening their car door into mine because they don't take pride in their possesions or leaving their shopping cart in a convient store parking lot only to have the wind blow it into the middle of my truck door because they don't have respect for my possesions. It is a completely different and unacceptable situation when the distruction of my property intentionally puts me and, even worse, my family in serious danger.
Grow up Evansville. Can't we find more creative and less distructive ways to entertain ourselves?
If anyone has any information on who is responsible for this..I'm interested.
There you have it. If you have any information regarding this please leave a comment or contact me through this website.

Is it just me or did local news exaggerate the meth lab fire at Motel Manor in Boonville? All over the head lines was EXPLOSION, when really it was a small mishap that caused minmal fire damage. Just seems like poor reporting, when a more accurate headline would have read 'Meth Fire At Motel Manor'.
After seeing video of room 14 where the reported meth production was taken place I didn't notice any damage, besides some light fire damage. Not that this justifies what was going on, personally I'm glad the meth makers are accounted for.
In addition, I was not aware that meth makers made their product in hotel rooms. Is this common place? If it is, how much of a threat does this create for regular patrons of small motels/hotels? From what I understand Meth production has the ability to cause a real explosion capable of killing, injuring, or at least creating sizable structural damage to buildings.
I'm not sure why 1280 AM in Evansville decided to cancel Michael Savage and bring on a poor man's Rush Limbaugh, but they did. I completely understand that Savage is an extremist, but I need him to help balance out what I'm being exposed to every day anyways, the extreme left. Since he's been removed from the line up and he's been replaced with Glen Beck, what am I supposed to get angry about on the way home in the evenings?
I dropped an email to 1280 the week Savage was taken off air, but never received a response. Maybe I was the only one that appreciated the rantings, the anger, the in your face conservative views. Not that I agreed with him all the time, but it was just a breath of fresh air when being bombarded with the Evansville Courier slant and local news.
1280 AM, if you are listening, bring back Savage at least in some time slot.

Christ their prices are getting out of hand. Just last night my wife and I decided to check out Disney's UP and it ended up costing us close to $30 when all was said and done. Consider that the normal charge for a movie is $9 and it's an additional $2.50 per ticket to see a 3D film like UP. Now set back $23.00 I slowly make my way to the snack bar where I have to pony up $5.00 for a small coke and small popcorn.
So, $28 later I'm setting in a cozy theater, decent picture, 3d images, great sound, but drinking water downed coke and stale popcorn. Is it worth it? Money spent does not equal enjoyment gained, from the movie, experience, and derfinately not from the over priced snack crap.
Showplace Cinemas of Evansville at least do one thing right and that's keep the cheap theater open on the South side. My family may dedicate the rest of our Summer movie going to that theater, since we won't be able to afford the over priced Showplace East. I blame their fast expansion right before the recession, because I counted no more than 10 people in that crappy lil bar.
That reminds me, yes, you can smell the smoke out in the lobby of the theater and it's annoying. Maybe the ventillation people should of thought of this before installing a bar in a movie theater.
Buying Showplace Cinemas Tickets Online
Thinking about saving some money by buying your movie tickets online? Guess again, not only do you pay the high ticket price online, but you are also subject to a $1.00 internet fee. What the hell is an internet fee? Every other industry in the world offers discounts for purchasing online, since it obiviously cuts down on man hours, etc.
Please get with the times Showplace Cinemas.

Well, one of my great friends snapped this shot with her cell phone from an apartment complex on the East side. To be honest, I think it's a great reminder we all need to heed when going for a public swim. Although while thinking about it, this should apply to more things than just swimming and why doesn't the pool I use have this sign up?
I guess they just don't care.

Has anyone else noticed how cruel and unusual most of the comments are over at CourierPress.com? I mean, it's like the worst of Evansville comes out to leave obscure comments on horrible stories, that no doubt family members are reading. Some of which I'm surprised pass a language filter, but others are just there to be rude.
The Evansville Courier should be taking steps to prevent 50% of those comments from even being published. While automated scripts will catch the curse words, it looks like there needs to be a full time moderator of the site. Someone to hang around and just keep the site professional and classy and not a melting pot of the city idiots.
I mean, aren't there other places on the net where people can be idiots and get away with anonymity? Why should our local newspaper be subjected to this type of troll?

Yeah, yeah, so I go golfing on a beautiful day and only take one picture. Well, this one picture should put a smile on your face, at least it did the attendant in the club house at Howell Park on Saturday when I went golfing.
Maybe they should take this guy down, it is awfully close to the minature golf course. And perhaps once they finish the pool it will be a lot busier and if you stare long enough it becomes a little offensive( or maybe just intimidating).

My brother and I decided to check out the new Red Robin in Evansville last night. Overrall it was a good decision, but there are a few things that just didn't set right with my experience. Allow me to share with you my experience, so that hopefully yours will be more fulfilling.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere in Red Robin was just great, complete with friendly hostess. It's a wide open building with plenty of booths and tables, depending on your preference. Also, there appeared to be a full service bar, but unfortunately no drink specials.
Looking back I don't remember any music playing, just the sound of a bustling restaurant. Plenty of people chatting and generally having a good time. Not necessarily a place I would recommend going out with a loved one for a quiet intimate dinner.
Service
I think that every restuarant experience comes down to the waitor or waitress you luck out with. My waitor last night was very friendly, prompt when I needed something, but didn't come around as often as I would like. This became an issue with me, considering how Red Robin sells their meals. More on this under the food section.
It seemed to take a little longer than it should have to receive a simple burger and fry meal. My brother and I waited probably about 20-25 minutes for our meals to show up. Considering that it was a Thursday night, early, and really not that busy it seemed unacceptable. No worries though, we weren't in a hurry.
Food
I purchased the Red Robin special A1 Peppercorn Burger on an onion bun. It was perfect and cooked with a little pink, just as I had requested. When ordering you have two choices for how you want your burger cooked, 'A Little Pink' or 'No Pink'. I thought it was funny when our waitor insisted on correcting me when I ordered mine Medium. "You mean a little pink", he said. Kind of like a Venti coffee instead of just a large. pfft.
Overall the burger and fries were great and Red Robin has a seductive way of getting you to fall for their $10+ burger meal combos. Red Robin offers bottomless fries, meaning you can eat as many fries with your meal as you want and they will keep bringing them out. This sounds great, but when your waitor doesn't visit the table often enough to replenish your fries, what's the point?
Total time spent in Red Robin was probably just over an hour before I was finally asked if I wanted extra fries. Of course I didn't take any, hell I was tired of just setting in the same place and had plans afterward. Therefore, in future visits (and I will visit again) I fully intend on asking the server to go ahead and bring out extra fries when he brings the first meal. That way, when I'm ready for my fries, they'll be there.
Conclusion
I'll eat there again. The food was good, but nothing to get excited about. The service was good, but nothing to get excited about. The way in which you are served, by a place that promises bottomless fries, is aggrevating. Make sure you get your money's worth and ask for extra fries up front, because the amount brought out with your burger is not enough to justify the cost.
