Looks like police in Evansville had a busy weekend. According to the Courier Press, city police handed out over 270 tickets, made 20 criminal arrests, and arrested 3 individuals on drunk and driving charges.
The ramp up of law enforcement in the area was part of the Indiana Operation Combined Accident Reduction Effort(C.A.R.E.) and Statewide Driving Under the Influence Project. The last public report stated that C.A.R.E. was responsible for reducing fatal injuries on the highways by more than 20% in the last decade.
Specifically, projects like this focus on drunk driving crashes and reducing the risk of sharing the road with these drivers during the holiday. Comparing deaths during holidays like Memorial Day and 4th of July from 2006 to 2007 there was a reduction in over 90% of fatal alcohol related accidents.
So, thank you for your efforts city of Evansville for taking part in such an important activity.

Man, the Holiday Drive In in REO needs to update their website more frequently. Here I am planning outings for the weekend and I can't even tell what will be showing at the drive in. The only thing that's up as of this posting is last weeks schedule. Will they be showing Terminator Salvation? I don't know, it's anyones guess.
Furthermore, their existing website is an eye sore. Poor navigation, little information, and plastered with second rate advertisements. No thanks.

If the owners of Holiday Drive In are looking for someone to setup a quality website, just let me know. I'd be happy to put together an easily updatable, clean, useful website in exchange for a handful of summer tickets.

Went golfing last night at around 5 at Howell Park. To be honest I'm very pleased with how well they take care of that little Par3 course. The greens were in decent shape, areas were freshly mowed, and even the chipping green looked finely manicured. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough hours in the day to enjoy the inexpensive course as often as I would like.
Howell Park closes at 6:300 through the week and even if you are in the middle of your game they will change flags out on you. While this isn't that big of a deal, consider that Wesselmans leaves their flags out and will stay open till it gets dark. Why is this city course not on the same hours as the rest of the city golf courses in Evansville?
Hopefully Howell will amend their hours as it gets longer into the summer. Right now it's staying daylight until just after 8:00 and come July all the way up until 9:00. I'd like to be able to head over to Howell Park around 6:00 and have plenty of time to get 18 holes in. As it stands now, getting off work at 5 and heading over to the course, they won't even let you pay for more than 9 holes after 5:30.

Sure could use some rain, this drought has been killing me in Evansville Indiana. How many days has it been since it rained last?
I guess the good news is that there is a storm front moving in the size of Missouri and it's all red on my radar. Of course I'm being sarcastic and I'm pulling my hair out ready to be done with all this rain. Come on, at least give me 2 days in a row where I don't have to worry about my gutters or flooding.
If I wouldn't have mowed in the rain last Saturday it would have probably been another week before I will get the chance. Give us a break mother nature, give us some sun, make the storms go away!
